May

We are all working very hard on Number this month. Junior Infants are starting to use the number-line and senior Infants are now adding numbers up to 20.
Juniors have nearly completed all their 42 sounds with only a few more to go. Continue to revise these each night and small words should be made with the sound tiles.
Gaeilge this month is An Aimsire and the children should be able to tell their parents the weather (as gaeilge) each day!
It is friendship month in the Junior Room and we are encouraging the children to make lots of friends and let all children in the class join in yard games.

We are studying Fairy-tales this month and the children are comparing different characters, for example, were the Three Little Pigs really good or bad? Was the Big Bad Wolf and the Troll friends?
This month we are continuing on with our sounds and the children should now know j, oa, ie, ee and or. The junior infants are doing great work with their blending and can now read lots of new words.

Senior Infants are beginning to write their own stories and are great at helping the junior infants with their reading.

In maths this month we are learning about 2D and 3D shapes and we found lots of shapes in our classroom. At home children could find some shapes and discuss with mum or dad the properties of these shapes (number of faces, corners, edges,) does the shape stack or roll?

Gaeilge this month: Caitheamh Aimsire
